Admission

Application for admission is open to any high school graduate (or one having an equivalent academic background). Selection of applicants is made on the basis of academic ability, moral character, and a sincere desire to study the Scriptures. No person shall, on the basis of race, color, sex or national origin, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of or be otherwise subjected to discrimination under any program or activity of the College. However, only persons who have experienced regeneration and who have earnest desire to serve Christ are eligible for admission. They should present acceptable evidence of the genuineness of their calling and purpose.

Applications for admission to the College and reference forms are available upon request from the Admissions Office. The following directions are listed for your convenience.

When to Apply

Prospective students may make application after the completion of their junior year of high school. Atlantic Baptist Bible College admits freshmen and transfer students at the beginning of each semester during the school year. Yet, because of the uniqueness of the modular approach to teaching, a student may enroll any Monday throughout the year with a pastor's recommendation. ABBC acts on applications as they are received, thus eliminating specific deadlines for applying.

How to Apply

Familiarization.   Familiarize yourself with Atlantic Baptist Bible College and its program. Thoughtful reading of the college catalog is the first step in applying for admission.

Application Questionnaire.   Accurate completion of this basic form is important. The completed form should be mailed to the Director of Admissions together with the nonrefundable application fee.

Secondary School Records.   Request that your high school send an official transcript of your records directly to the Admissions Office. If you are enrolled as a high school student at the time you file your application, be sure you request both a transcript of the work you have finished to date and a final transcript upon graduation.

GED.  If you have a state high school equivalency diploma or have passed the General Education Development Test (GED), request the issuing institution to supply a certified copy of satisfactory completion of high school requirements to the Admissions Office.

Recommendation Forms.   Two recommendation forms are required: 1) recommendation by pastor 2) recommendation by teacher/employer. For each of these personas the applicant should provide a stamped envelope addressed to the Directory of Admissions.

Note:  The Family Education Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 allows college students access to their files, but letters of recommendation have traditionally not been shown to students. Because of the importance of preserving the confidentiality of letters of recommendation, educational institutions are permitted to suggest that an applicant waive his right of access to letters of recommendation. Signing such a waiver statement is not required as a condition for admission. Signing the waiver statement on the reference form is all that is necessary on your part.

Transfer Applicants

All the previous steps pertain to those seeking transfer from another college. In addition, you are required to request official transcripts from each school attended, whether you anticipate transfer credits or not. All transcripts should be sent directly from the school to the Registrar of Atlantic Baptist Bible College.

A prospective student should seek to schedule an interview with a representative of the College to clarify any question.

Notification

Students will be notified of any items in order to complete the application. After the Admissions Office has received all items requested, the Admissions Committee will act upon each student's application. A letter of acceptance will be sent as soon as possible.

Checklist of Application Items

1. Application for admission and application fee.
2. High school transcript.
3. Transcript from all schools attended after completion of high school.
4. Recommendation by pastor.
5. Recommendation by teacher/employer.

READMISSION PROCEDURES

Students who wish to return to ABBC after a period of absence will be required to notify the Registrar's Office in writing. This letter requesting readmission must be submitted at least one month prior to registration or a late Registration Fee will be assessed.

The student's file will then be reactivated, and he will be notified of any additional material needed to complete it. Those who have been out a semester or more will have to submit a current pastor's recommendation in order to be readmitted and may be asked for a new medical form. It is understood that the returning student will enter under the current catalog requirements.
